Burt's Bees - Dangerous Teen Trend

May 28, 2014

Dr. Hussen was recently interviewed by CTV News Kitchener reporter Alexandra Pinto about a dangerous trend growing in popularity amongst teens called "Beezin". This involves rubbing Burt's Bees lip balm on their eyelids that creates a tingling sensation caused by the pepermint oil ingredient that some teens say enhances the feeling when they are already either drunk or high. Dr. Hussen explains that rubbing the lip balm onto eyelids can have serious side effects in some cases such as inflammation and swelling of the eyes, similar to "pink eye" or conjunctivitis. Dr. Hussen warns that using the lip balm for purposes other than than the intended use is not recommended. Check out the video for more information!
